Cell Phones for Healthcare

Cell Phones for Healthcare

Goal

Our goal is to increase the donation of old cell phones and repurpose them for alleviating profound healthcare communication gaps in the developing world.

Summary

Every day, more than 450,000 cell phones are turned over in the United States. Less than 10% of these are recycled. The remainder are left to collect dust in boxes at home or simply thrown out. In association with FrontlineSMS:Medic, Hope Phones seeks to 1) reduce the environmental waste generated by trashed phones and 2) supply community health workers in the developing world with cell phones to help them bridge the patient-physician gap. Visit medic.frontlinesms.com and www.hopephones.org for more information!
